So you sold a website. Now what?

After you successfuly sold your website and received the payment from the buyer, you need to transfer the website to the new owner.

How to Transfer the Website’s Hosting and Domain Name

Transferring a domain name to buyer is an easy task. If you’re domain name is registered at Namecheap or Godaddy, the new website owner must have an account on that Registrar so he can accept the domain name transfer. Transferring a domain name at Namecheap is simple as pushing the domain name to the buyer’s account. If your domain name is registered at Godaddy you need the ask your buyer’s personal information such as Name, Organization, Address, Email, & Phone so you can fill out Godaddy’s change account form. After you initiate the domain name transfer, the buyer will receive a confirmation email from Godaddy. All he needs to do is follow the instruction in the email to complete the domain name transfer. Your buyer needs to accept the domain name transfer within 15 days or you have to re-iniate the transfer process.

Aside from the domain name you also need to transfer the site’s hosting information to your buyer. You need to send the hosting details and any important username and password to the new owner.

If he asks for the backup files up the site, you can download your website files in your PC using a FTP client and zipped it so you can send it to the buyer. You can also do a complete backup of the site and Database online using your Cpanel.

These are the basics of transferring a website after the sale.

Back to Internet marketing, for those of you who read my blog and want to know what happened in December, well, I sold a few sites, and I got over $800 dollars online revenue that month.

There are also a lot of people that are still interested in a credit card affiliate website. So what I did was update the old credit card affiliate php script that I had and created a new sales website for the script.

At the end of December I was able to sell the script to 7 customers at the introductory price of $17 which totaled $119.

At the start of January I was able to borrow money around $600, I use my bike as collateral. I’ve used that loan to build Credit Card Publisher, the new version of the credit card affiliate script. I paid a freelance programmer and web designer to get the new version of the script and the sales page up and running. You can check out the site to learn more about the script.

As of this post, I already earned $631 from sales proceeds of the script, not a bad start considering that I’ve done little promotion.

November revenue was $700+ dollars a little less than the previous months. Hopefully December would be a profitable month.

 I’ve been averaging 1k for the past two months, while this amount of revenue maybe great, still it’s just enough to cover my family’s monthly cost of living. I still have some debts to pay and my wedding ring is still at the pawnshop.

 November will be a challenging month, I already sold the sites I’ve created and so far I don’t have any existing website for sale. I also don’t have funds left for any website projects. I’m definitely starting from scratch again, hopefully I can have another 1k month.

I’ll be using a portion of the revenue to build more sites and hopefully I could come up with my own product this October to expand my source of income streams.

It’s been a busy month for me, but I am satisfied that I was rewarded with my effort.
